Don’t wait to invest in good cybersecurity

Skimping on cybersecurity is a massive no, no. A lot of companies attempt to cut corners under the guise of money saving. In actuality, this can hurt in the long run.

IT partners and cybersecurity specialists often work as a uniformed glove.  Whether the specialists are outsourced or in house, they supplement one another to provide round the clock protection from cyber threats. Ultimately they are the people in the protecting you and your clients footprints in the digital world while you focus on the tangible.

How your IT professional can help you:

  1. monitor
  2. detect
  3. investigate
  4. analyze

In 2015, Washington state required all businesses, individuals, and public agencies to notify any residents of unauthorized access of data that compromises the security, confidentiality, or integrity of that resident’s personal information.

9 data breaches were reported to the state attorney general last month.  The number of consumers affected ranged from 682 to nearly 20,000. These breaches compromised information pertaining to social security, date of birth, banking, passports, driver’s licenses, medical information, and password security.

An example of a notice sent to consumers included how the breach occurred, what was compromised, a plan to rectify the issue, and how consumers can be proactive.

Ways to be proactive

  1. Strategize ways to deal with threats before an attack occurs
  2. Actively preventing breaches
  3. Have a reactive plan when security is breached
