The age of working anywhere

4 best practices to successfully work remotely

We are in the era of work flexibly. People want to be able to work in more than one setting, whether that be from home, the coffee shop down the street, the airport or any other place with internet access.

To achieve this, we need to be able to do so safely. Here’s 4 ways to work from anywhere.

Separate work and personal devices

If you have multiple devices, be sure to work only from the devices dedicated to work.  Mixing work and personal stuff can be a security risk. Your IT provider can setup a secure network for work devices.

Be Email Literate

Phishing scams have been on the rise and heavily in the news, so it is ever more important to be aware of any email that requests your credentials. Some may appear super professional and may not raise any immediate alarms.  If it sounds suspicious, share it with your IT department assess the threat.

Know your network environment

When out and about, do not connect to a public network to do work related stuff. Whenever working with sensitive information, make sure you’re on a secure network, preferably a personal hot spot that is password protected.

Set-up Two Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is crucial to protecting your organization from cyberattacks. It can reduce the risk of credential compromise by over 90%. It adds an additional layer of security to online accounts. Normal security is simply having good login credentials, such as a strong password. Two-factor authentication goes beyond this by requiring additional credentials to access information.
