There is job security in cybersecurity

With the rise in high-profile ransomware attacks, companies have begun to reassess the importance of cyber security.

Companies are scrambling to keep up with the demand of frequent cyberattacks. There is a strong need for experienced cyber security professionals. Larger companies are picking the cream of the crop, leaving smaller businesses left to compromise by hiring people with a narrower skill set.

Employers are willing to pay up to six figures for an experienced Cyber Security expert. An information security analyst made $98,350 per year in 2018, according to the BLS. The more these positions remain in demand, the salaries will continue to increase.

An entry-level salary in this field pays around $70k as of June 2021. Of course these salaries can vary depending on level of education, additional skills, number of years a person has been in the profession, etc.  These positions are great because not only do they have to have a array of responsibilities, but there is also opportunity for future growth.

Entry-level positions to consider

  • Security Analyst/Manager
  • Security Specialist
  • Cryptographer
  • Forensic Expert
  • Penetration Tester

Jobs in the cybersecurity field are rapidly growing. Cybersecurity jobs account for 13% of all information technology jobs, says Burning glass technologies . Due to the limited people in the field, anyone looking for job security can be happy knowing this field can provide that.
